It’s Not Just a Solar-Powered iPhone Case…

I have to say iPhone is a great device but is too fragile to withstand the rigors of the outdoor enthusiast even though we put on a gel or hard shell case for it. But look what I have found for you!

This unique iPhone case called the Aqua Tek S is designed by Snow Lizard Products. It is the world’s first battery-powered, solar-charged, rugged underwater case for iPhone 4 and 4S. I think this case is perfect for rock climbers, river rafters, and beach bums alike. With this case, we can take our iPhone to places where no iPhone has gone before.

The Aqua Tek S is claimed to be waterproof up to 20 feet and designed to withstand drops, falls, and accidental spills. With an outer shell made from tough poly-carbonate materials with rubber grips for added protection, it is a huge relief to anyone who’s accidentally dumped their morning coffee all over their phone.

Also, the Aqua Tek S’ built in battery and solar charger will eliminate the fear of running out of power while exploring in remote areas. Users will be able to charge and sync the iPhone in the Aqua Tek S by simply opening the thumb screw and attaching a micro USB to the connector.

To all the adventurers and travelers out there, does this sound like something you need?

  1. My battery is always running out so this would be highly useful…except in Vancouver where obviously sunshine is somewhat harder to come by (at least on a consistent bases).

But I just had a thought as I was reading your two blogs, both on the topic of harnessing solar energy. Its definitely amazing that we’ve figured out how to harness solar power to make sure that our iPhone can will last longer (among other things), but what’s more intriguing, is that its not being consistently used to make a substantial impact on individuals who need it the most. Not sure if you’ve seen this video but it’s definitely worth the watch:

Its obvious in noting that solar power has the ability to work much more effectively in third world countries where the Sun is always shining. Its just sometimes mind boggling that we’ll spend so much time developing this amazing solar powered iPhone case instead of using that time to solve real human needs in the simplest form.

I guess its the old scenario of first world problems :p
